What Is Grade 2 Uterine Cancer
Tumor cells and tissue looks most like healthy cells and tissue. The cells are well differentiated.
Where Does Endometrial Cancer Spread To Prof Andreas Obermair Professor Andreas Obermair
Type 1 cancers are the most common type.

What is grade 2 uterine cancer. In contrast the cells and tissue of Grade 3 and Grade 4 tumors do not look like normal cells and tissue. These tumors are generally adenocarcinomas and are grade 1 or 2. The cells are poorly differentiated.
Grade 3 high grade The cancer cells look more abnormal. Cancer extends to the ovaries or fallopian tubes. Stage 3A Cancer has spread beyond the uterus and invades the outer surface of the uterus andor fallopian tubes and ovaries.
Grade 2 moderate grade The cancer cells look moderately abnormal. Grade 1 low grade The cancer cells look slightly abnormal. These cancers tend to be more aggressive than lower-grade cancers.
Endometrial cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the lining of the uterus called endometrium. Recurrent cancer is cancer that has come back after treatment. When cancer cells do this its called metastasis.
The cells and tissue are somewhat abnormal and are called moderately differentiated. Cancer has spread beyond the uterus but remains in the pelvis. These tumors tend to grow and spread slowly.
Stage 3B Cancer has spread to the vagina. In the past CS was considered a different type of uterine cancer called uterine sarcoma see below but doctors now believe that CS is an endometrial carcinoma thats so abnormal it no longer looks much like the cells it came from its poorly differentiated. At Cancer Treatment Centers of America CTCA our cancer experts recognize that stage 2 cancer is a complex disease.
Stage II is subclassified as A or B depending on how far the cancer has spread within the pelvis. These are called well-differentiated tumors and are considered low grade. Type 2 develops from atrophic endometrium and is not linked to hormonally driven pathogenesis.
Type 1 and type 2 endometrial cancer. These are intermediate grade tumors. Type 2 cancers are not linked to excess oestrogen.
The grade cannot be evaluated. Stage 2 cancer refers to larger tumors or cancers that have grown more deeply into nearby tissue. Endometrial cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body such as the vagina or liver and grow there.
Cancer cells and tissue look very abnormal. It happens when cells in the endometrium grow out of control and crowd out normal cells. Type 1 may arise from complex atypical hyperplasia and is pathogenetically linked to unopposed estrogenic stimulation.
They are usually endometrioid adenocarcinomas and are linked to excess oestrogen in the body. A higher number such as stage IV means cancer has spread to other parts of the body. Doctors sometimes divide endometrial cancers into 2 types.
The most common type of endometrial cancer is endometrioid adenocarcinoma. Hormone therapy Hormone therapy is used to slow the growth of certain types of uterine cancer cells that have receptors to the hormones on them. They are generally slow growing and less likely to spread.
Cancer has spread to other tissues in the pelvis. And within a stage an earlier letter means a lower stage. As a rule the lower the number the less the cancer has spread.
In this stage the cancer may have spread to the lymph nodes but not to other parts of the body. Stage 2 Cancer tumor has spread from the body of the uterus to the cervix but not outside the uterus. The cells are moderately differentiated.
Uterine CS is a type 2 endometrial carcinoma. In general tumors are graded as 1 2 3 or 4 depending on the amount of abnormality. In Grade 1 tumors the tumor cells and the organization of the tumor tissue appear close to normal.
Endometrial cancer stages range from stage I 1 through IV 4. The letter G is used to define a grade for uterine cancer. Uterine cancer may come back in the uterus pelvis lymph nodes of the abdomen or another part of the body.
Hormone therapy for uterine cancer often involves a high dose of the sex hormone progesterone given in pill form.
